Koala Konnection is our brainchild and we are Paul and Gill Cave, who migrated to Australia from the UK in 2004.

Paul has a background in magazine publishing and event organisation and is a huge classic car enthusiast in his spare time. He strongly believes in being master of his own destiny and that any dream can be realised with enough determination and hard work. It is Paul that is the main driver behind Koala Konnection; developing and maintaining the website.

In the UK I (Gill) followed a career in industrial pharmacy, working in research and development, with the aim of making a positive difference to people’s health and wellbeing through developing new and improved medicines. In Australia I have worked as a community pharmacist and am currently working in the field of technical publications, as well as contributing to Koala Konnection.

When in 2002 we decided it was time for a new chapter in our life’s adventure story, and that it would be set in Australia, it meant a lot of research, information gathering and decision making. This ranged from investigating what type of visa we stood most chance of successfully gaining, what was the best way for us to transfer our hard-earned savings to what was involved in bringing one of our most important family members with us – our cat. We wanted to feel in control of the migration process (as far as is possible), to maximise our chances of success and to do so we spent countless hours searching the web to find information we felt we could rely on and people we could trust.

That’s why, when we finally settled into our new life Down Under, we decided to do ‘something’ to help others through the migration process and to make the transition more easily. That ‘something’ would be a website to bring together a network of experts and businesses all involved in one aspect or another of migration and to provide a single access point for the contacts, information and advice needed to smooth the waters. Koala Konnection was born.

For my part I see it as a different way to make a positive difference to people’s health and wellbeing – in saving them time and worry at what can be both an exciting yet stressful stage of people’s lives. Koala Konnection can also save people money too, important for any migrant’s financial health when starting again in a new country.

The success of this website is built on its commitment to provide obligation-free access to professionals in a wide range of migration related businesses as well as to share useful information about living in Australia and now New Zealand too. Most importantly, we welcome your feedback on the website and the performance of the businesses we have linked with. We want our konnections to offer you, our users, excellent service and value for money – after all, that’s the reason we exist.
